Process control is switched on but process control system does not take influence in cure time

Reason:

There are some severe error messages pending. In this case the process control system will not take influence in cure time:

1. Thermocouple defect:

One or more thermocouples, which are needed (screw barrel, injection pot, cold runner block (if selected) or one or more thermocouples for measuring mould temperature) are out of order. Process control only makes sense if all needed signals are present.

2. Minimum curetime below limit:

The set value for state of cure has been reached earlier than the set value for minimum incubation time. This indicates that there is something wrong:

No influence in cure time is taken, when set value for state of cure has been reached earlier than set value for minimum cure time.

Error message “Scorch”:

Somewhere in the injection unit or the cold runner is rubber in critical state (too less incubation time left or to high state of cure). No influence in cure time is taken, when set value for state of the material is critical.

Solution:

a) Remove the critical material from injection unit and cold runner

b) check value for scorch index

Input of articles geometry is not accepted

Cube or rectangle has been selected but it has been changed to rectangle or plate.

Solution:

The process control system looks automatically at the input dimensions of the article and changes the type of the geometry if it can be made simpler due to the dimensions.

Example:

An article has the geometry of a textmarker pen and is selected as a cube of 10 mm x 20 mm x 100 mm.

Because the length (100mm) is more than three times the smallest dimension (10 mm), heat transfer over the small front side and rear side (200 mm²) can be ignored in relation to heat transfer over the remaining area (60.000 mm²).

That is why the system selects rectangle as type of geometry. Input of heat transfer is simpler now, because there are only four surfaces to take care about.
